This mainly applies to Vista basic users.

I've not used Y'z Shadow on Vista because I'd usually find the one that turns up on the Google search (v.1.9). You know, the version that you had to run in compatibility mode? I've done a little digging around and found it's still being worked on. Right now, it's currently at 2.3 beta and it's compatible with Vista. And on this version, you can adjust the shadow to show on the top window border. It also has some nice fade-in effects for the shadows.

To my personal preference, I turn off transparency on the taskbar and menus, and keep the window shadows and taskbar shadow. The only problem I see with it is the settings window font is too large, but the options are still usable. And there's an option to hide it from the system tray (still accessible through an entry on the desktop right click).

Anyway, let me shut up and give you the link: Y'z Shadow

Oh, and don't forget to disable shadows while dragging/resizing a window ;)

Hi forgot to mention that this fix only works with the drop shadow, Menu, and Exclude settings menu not with the Taskbar menu. Hopes this helps. any question post them here. Bye.

Hi I like this program cause of the neon lights around the windows and transparency of the start menu. The beta 2.3 settings options however seems to have a glitch it only show part of it. Like many of you commented. So what I did to fix it was to replace the language folder on the 2.3beta with the early version 1.9 language folder and restart it, and now it shows most of the options. Hopes this helps.

I've been looking all over for the original Web site for this app, and thanks to you, I've now found it. :D I sure hope Mr. Yamaguchi fixed a lot of the bugs that were present in the earlier version. Sometimes the shadows stopped being created for new windows (though that might be an inherent Windows system limitation if there are too many windows open) and a lot of times simply having the program running introduced a noticeable slowdown to the entire computer, something that just shouldn't happen for a user-interface-centric program.

Thanks so much for digging around and finding the site!
